Benjamin Backofen

Biography

Born in 1993, and grew up in Norway. He has german parents and is fortunate enough to speak three languages fluently.

He came to Archery in 2012, and has a solid background in Classical Music on a high level, has a Bachelors Degree in History and has spent much of his time teaching.

In 2016 he finished the Norwegian Coaching Course level 2.

In 2019 he was granted a scholarship to attend a continued coaching education through Olympic Solidarity. Where he finished the World Archery Coaching Course level 3. Additionally he attended seminars with Kim Hyung Tak and Peter Elzinga & Fred van Zupthen. Alongsside the seminars he visited Beiter and the Italian National team.

He is the head coach of Oslo Bueskyttere, where he is responsible for the regular training, for all members in addition to the competition group. The competition group was founded in 2016 and is a closed group for aspiring and motivated athletes that want a systematic approach to their goals.

Since 2020 Benjamin is a member of the Norwegian Archery Education and Coaches Committee and a technical coach on the Norwegian national team. He also conducts several seminars training archers and coaches alike.

In the beginning of 2021 he was hired by World Archery Norway as a Coaching Supervisor where he will travel to clubs, help coaches and give classes on coaching archery.

His strong points are pedagogics and olympic recurve.
